The Common Reed

The Common Reed

The Common Reed (Phragmites australis) is the tallest of all grasses growing in Poland. It can grow up to 4 meters in height. In the mountains it only likes wet meadows and bogs. It blooms from August to October. Phragmites australis is an important plant for wildlife, especially a few species of birds. The Low Beskid - Magura Park Narodowy - September 16, 2007.

The colour green !

What is that ... pasture or field
for cattle? Grains are a good
commodity - when is harvest time?
Outstanding scenery!

Re: The colour green !

Thank you for your comment. The grass in the Low Beskid is harvested twice a year, in June and September. Greetings, Henryk.
