The first canyon in the upper section of the Grains Gill

The boulders are slippery from the water and vegetation, but there isn't all that much water flowing in the Grains Gill, making this particular canyon just a strenuous hike. My main concern was to try and stay out of water, because I didn't want to get my boots soaked. Apart from that, I also was careful where I put my feet because I didn't want to slip and hurt my ankles in the process. A few years earlier, I had slipped and broken one of them on much easier terrain, and that had taught me to be more focused. 24 May 2012.
