The icefall at the start of the steep N face of the Mutmalspitze

From a distance, it looked innocent enough, but up close it's a different matter. I estimate it's about 300m up to the summit, which is on the far right. The route starts by ascending the icefall on the left hand side, then climbs the steep face, aiming for the rocks high on the ridge. From there, it's relatively easy to the summit - yes, relatively, because we kept sinking in the powdery soft snow. 12 July 2012.
