The waterline of Sabai Tsho prior to the moraine burst
In 1998 an earthquake struck this region (West of Mera peak) causing the moraine dam of Sabai Tsho (lake) to collapse, releasing the waters of the lake. It washed away parts of Tangnag village nearby and other buildings further down the valley. The old waterline is clearly visible on the rocks. October 2005
