Upper Solstice Couloir

Upper Solstice Couloir

9-Sept-2006: Looking up the Solstice Couloir. At this point the angle was about 45-50 degrees. Fortunately there were various rock islands for taking breaks :)
The easiest climbing looked to be in the center. I went left, which culminated in something that felt like 65+ degrees. To the right (not visible in this image) was something that looked a bit overhanging, probably the remains of a cornice.

Well done

Yet another couloir I'm missing this year. The Solstice doesn't shape up very often. Oh well.....

Re: Well done

Thanks Miguel ! It was fun climbing and good neve. I bet it will be in shape for a while yet.

Sounds like you guys had a pretty decent day in the Palisades !
