Palmer's Penstemon

Penstemon Palmeri, a spring wildflower named after Edward Palmer (1829 - 1911), a self-taught British botanist who spent most of his life in the USA. This flower is also often called Scented Beardtongue and grows at elevations between 4000-6000 feet (1200-1800 m). Photographed in the Nevada desert on route to the Spring Mountains. Snow-capped Charleston Peak is visible in the background.
