Highway 230 was last road not covered in snow so we we had the opportunity to hike for a while before heading up the mountain. Roads 3703, 300, and 380 led us to the upper trailhead. Just like in summer, things became interesting after passing the crater. There was a little bit of exposure but the snow conditions were perfect. We were able to get up to the summit without any equipment other than an emergency whistle. We did use our snowshoes and skis on the way down as the snow became soft. After a nine hour trip we were walking a little bit like a Sasquatch by the time we got back to the truck. Great trip.
