This is the West Summit of Black Mountain, or at least close to it. Photo taken on July 14 2007. The top of Black Mountain is flat and it's hard to make out the highest point.

highest point

I agree that this is about the highest point on Black Mountain. I hiked all around and tried to determine the true summit using my GPS. The west summit measured about 15' higher than the east summit, which agrees with the printed elevations (though not with the contour lines) on the USGS map. All maps of this area are suspect.
