It would be nice to have a sign or something at the top. As it is, there's just the survey marker and a bunch of antennas. # 17 for me.
Nothing too difficult with this one...even my Camaro made it to the top!
Er...um...ah...Mississippi has very nice people and campgrounds. Woodall Mountain, maybe not so much.
We didn't see a good place to park by the main road and wound up just driving to the top. Sprucing up this place would make a good project for a local Eagle Scout. HP8
Drove to the top and then walked down the powerline and climbed back up. Met some native Mississippians on the powerline who were concerned with their land. They were nice and gentle folk but wanted to make sure that I wasn't up to something fishy. Relaxing area.
After experiencing gorgeous weather and a nice drive, this State "Highpoint" was a letdown. Talk about LAME!!! The highpoint marker would be nicer if it were on some sort of fancy marker/ monument, rather than only a USGS marker on a small cylindrical piece of stone.
Drove over from Huntsville to see the area. It used to be hard to find the right road.
I took the indirect route from my winter job in South Dakota back to my temporary Kentucky home. Northern Mississippi wasn't so bad.
Drove up and had a nice little rest stop on a long trip. Nothing spectacular, but clean at least. Highpoint #9 :)
The summit was not a nice spot!!;
A lot of litter all over the place...
We picked up at least a dozen of beer cans...
Nice radio towers...
My dog Spanky and I succussfully made our fourth summit! Read all about at http://50summits.blogspot.com
DRove up and took some pics, out of all the highpoints I've been to, this is by far the lamest. Got some good BBQ on the drive home though!
Somehow found the right road, and arrived at sunset. Not much to see.
Drove up from the South
A dump as advertised. Saw some pictures here that I thought the place would be well kept. Not the case anymore. Just trash all around. Plus some jerk was up there blasting country music from her car, and smoking cigarettes. This would probably be a nice mountain if it was bald on the summit. Mississippi sucks.
I can't believe this has its own page! I drove by here as a distraction on the way to Tishomingo to rock climb. Can you believe there is rock to climb in MS?
Drove up the mountain right before sunrise. Right at dawn, the whole area frosted over to make the otherwise degraded mountain quite serene.
Highpoint #31, third of the day (after AR & LA). Rented a minivan & took turns driving from MA (home) to MO-AR-LA-MS-AL-FL & back.
Not much to indicate the HP. Did find the USGS marker and that was about it.
