"Exit light .. Enter night.. Take my hand; We're off to never NEVER-LAND ..." UN 6300', The Parthenon and Acropolis take on a wintertime profile, as seen from Sedona's Sugarloaf Trail .. The Schnebly Hill Formation is Sedona’s very own deposit and was formed in sand dunes that once fringed the shoreline of a shallow sea. The sea was centered to the south of Sedona, and the shoreline was located here. Sand was blown in from the north across the Grand Canyon area and came to rest near this ancient shoreline ... thus quickens the sands of time.

Another beauty...

from you, Larry.
There's nothing like red rocks, green plants and snow.

Cheers,
Marc

Re: Another beauty...

Marc, you're absolutely right ... you gotta
have green plants and snow in the desert to
keep the desert looking wonderful ..

Of course, I have no say in the matter ...

Cheers, Larry

Beautiful

Can that rock be climbed? Or protected, I should say?

Re: Beautiful

Mind you, I'm not a climber ... there are
some people who've climbed the one in the middle
... even though Sedona is well-known
for rock climbing enthusiasts, the rock is often soft and routes can be inconsistent in quality ... thus increasing the risk factor and degree of protection.

According to a rock-climbing website,
the Acropolis (on the far right) can be climbed on its south face via three trad routes rated at 5.9+ - 5.11+ - and 5.11+ .

Re: Beautiful

The climbing can be very good to very bad. The old routes tended to have very bad rock on moderate routes (except for a few of the most popular routes) and awesome rock on the hardest routes (tending to be mid-5.12 and harder) but new route developers have found very good moderate routes on good rock

Re: Beautiful

Yeah, I'd be extremely careful if you contact
ice along the route. Fortunately, that only happens three or four times each winter.

But then, what do I know ? ROCK ON ... it's all good.

Well, it could have been a bubbly brown beverage of root beer, or something thereabouts ... thanks for your kind words,

Re: Sandmanagement!

It's within 35 miles, but you gotta pay to
park at the trail-head. Yes, recent shot!

Even though I consider myself to be a cheap
bastard, I usually end up with an annual pass.

Just to work off some flab on my ASS !
