Bull, Cow and/or Calf, moose are far from friendly critters. Always a beautiful sight though.

Just an outstanding poser. I saw a moose yesterday but it was at Snowbird. I continued on to Catherine Pass but didn't drop to the lakes, instead I went up and over to Wolverine Peak. Neat area and the first time I ever went to Alta without my skiis. Lots of people at the trailheads.

Current Utah Moose report:

"Moose are a unique and valuable part of our wildlife heritage in Utah. Moose are relatively recent arrivals in our state with no record of moose prior to the twentieth century.

They have become well established in the mountainous areas of the northern half of Utah, with a statewide population of approximately 3,200 animals in winter of 2009."

"You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know."   --Rene Daumal
