Baby Grouse

This baby ruffed grouse was frozen like a statue hoping I wouldn't see him. His mother was off in the brush after doing a little threatening spin dance and hissing at me. I didn't get the camera out in time for her, but I got this one of one of the babies. Cute thing. June 2009

	Hasn't voted	Mom's act let me know they were there. Whenever they act like she did, they are trying to distract you away from babies. I didn't go looking for the chicks, but a few more steps up the trail and they scattered from the underbrush close by. This one stayed trying the freeze rather than run defense.
