Badlands and Prairie

Badlands and Prairie

At their southern boundary, the Badlands just rise out of the prairie. This picture also shows a slice of the main east-west ridge that makes for fun aimless scrambling. June 2008.

The Badlands look

"bad," which in this case is good.

No blue sky? I thought there was always
blue sky days up in the Dakotas.

Re: The Badlands look

This was at sunrise (sun to the right) and I was fighting the lighting in various ways. The price of getting the grass right was getting the sky wrong.

Someday I'll figure out how to do both.

Re: Very nice!

It's definitely worth checking out -- though I think Theodore Roosevelt in ND is the better badlands park. I think Sihler owns both pages, you can see if he agrees.
