Badlands and Prairie
At their southern boundary, the Badlands just rise out of the prairie. This picture also shows a slice of the main east-west ridge that makes for fun aimless scrambling. June 2008.

No blue sky? I thought there was always
blue sky days up in the Dakotas.

This was at sunrise (sun to the right) and I was fighting the lighting in various ways. The price of getting the grass right was getting the sky wrong.

Someday I'll figure out how to do both.

It's definitely worth checking out -- though I think Theodore Roosevelt in ND is the better badlands park. I think Sihler owns both pages, you can see if he agrees.
