Day 1
We left on a friday at 1 pm after we finished up classes for the day. Miles, Scotty and I ascended through the forest on heliotrope ridge. We wore snowshoes most of the way up the trail, a necessary tool!
We set up camp on the flats below the black buttes.
The sunset was beautiful and the mountain was glowing like no other! The bottle of whiskey was enjoyable!
Summit and out
We woke up at 2 am and started our ascent. however mild hangover/being a little drunk still slowed us down. Scotty split up while miles and I wore our crampons. The snow was hard and made crampon ascent very easy. Early morning sunrise to the north/east was beautiful.
We arrived at the saddle and were blessed with great views of rainier and the rest of the ascent was layed out in front of us.
The summit was great mostly windless and perfectly clear. The views were spectacular as we could see rainier, glacier, shucksan, the canadian cascades and the olympic mountain range! what a sight
Scotty boarded off of the summit while miles and I walked like bitches, what a rough sight to watch him take turns past us while walking!
We arrived back at the tent, enjoyed sunshine then headed out to the car. Glissading was the name of the game on the way out. Very long runs.
We did not rope up
