It is a very fortunate boulder, one that soaks up
the sunshine on the last day of January. It is so lucky to have green lichen growing on it, as a small Pinyon pine casts a shadow just southeast of Payson, Arizona, in the "Granite Dells" area. Bouldering???

to my "Mountains of Smiles" album? Grazie!!! | | Posted Feb 1, 2008 10:15 am |

Voted 10/10 | Surely that you can add my photo to your album!
Feel free to do It!
I have to "push some botton", or it's an action that you can do by yourself, I am not an expert in managing file on internet, and note that I am an engineer! | | Posted Feb 1, 2008 10:30 am |

Voted 10/10 | This photo truly brings out the spirit of nature. I love the way that the shadow, the lichen, and the natural color of the rock seem to create an eternal flame. It is very beautiful.

Hasn't voted | Thanks, Mark! In fact, I'm going out the
door right now to take some pictures of
this same area, called the 'Granite Dells'
area a few miles outside the town where
I live. All of the snow has melted, now! | | Posted May 5, 2008 5:57 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thank you, wiktoria! Actually, I must admit
that the "editing manager" made it appear more
yellow than it really was.
Congratulations in climbing the High Tatra
of Poland! That's wonderful! I really like
your "elk photo" from Yellowstone. We have
some elk where I took a photo of this
boulder, but I haven't captured one on film
yet! Thanks for your kind word. -LARRY | | Posted Jul 31, 2008 2:12 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thank you, is this "yellow" some type of fungi? | | Posted Jul 31, 2008 3:19 pm |
 | | lcarreau | Re: yellow | |
Hasn't voted | Yes, it's a COMBINATION of the chlorophyl
from the photosynthetic green algae and the
fungi growing in unison.
Because this side of the boulder is 'south-facing,' it receives more hours of
sunlight to perpetuate the 'photosynthetic
process.'

The lighting was great, but I somehow managed
to cut off the "summit" of the boulder.
I tend to do that with my camera. The beauty
of digital photography is, you can continue
taking picture-upon-picture of the SAME
subject, until the battery quits. : )) | | Posted Apr 8, 2009 10:53 am |
