OverviewThe via normale on Brana, the only path to the summit is a demanding marked and secured mountain-hiking path.
It is statiscally shadowed, mainly because of the unexpected slipperiness of the exposed snow field in the N face (season begin).
When the snow is entirely gone, the N face scree slope is safely walkable, trailed, and is perfectly enjoyable.Getting ThereThe start of our route is the Kamnik hut (Kamniska koca na Kamniskem sedlu).
Route DescriptionOur path is signposted Brana at the Kamnik saddle hut. We leave westwards horizontally.
Soon after entering the shade of the upper Brana N face, the (very demanding) path down to Okreselj (Frischauf hut) splits righthand.
We continue (signposted Brana) horizontally, westwards along the tread trail accross the scree slope.
Soon again another split comes up. Our marked trail is the one to the left, slightly upwards (the other one continues traversing towards the notch between Brana and Turska Gora).
We continue traversing (left), sticking to the blazes along the rocks which now appear.
Next, heading up lefthand, we need to scramble a little (metal pegs installed), and after a few twists we attain the NW ridge, having now crossed the upper Brana N face.
Our marked path turns left and directly rejoins the summit, with a walk along the comfortable (wide) upper NW ridge.
We descend by reversing the route.Essential GearIf the slope is snowy: a piolet (and evtl. crampons). Images
