Quality

Fine crags, splendid rocky scenery. How clean is the water compared to the English Channel?

Re: Quality

Splendid indeed. I don't know how the water is compared to the English Channel (I've spent very little time there), but the water here is super - the beaches often win awards.

The submarine environment has been designated as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) which means that it is an internationally important nature site.

Things could be a lot worse, in 1996 the Sea Empress oil tanker ran aground not far from here, depositing 73,000 tonnes of oil into the sea. The clean up took five years and cost £60 million.
