Burned Interior Wildfire

The initial run of the wildfire is carried by and burns the fine fuels of the forest. During that passage heavier fuels like logs and snags ignite and will continue to burn long after the needles, twigs and small brush is consumed. The remainder is a dark, dense, smoky forest until the larger fuels consume.
