Cable route of the Saix de Miolene

Approach

From Chapelle d'Abondance take the RD 22 direction Abondance. At the end of the village, near a rock quarry, park and take the "Sentier du menhir" which leads through the forest to the beginning of the cable route (via ferrata).

Route Description

Orientation : the Saix de Miolene (Saix = rocks) in the SE face of the Mont Chauffe.
Length : 900 m (+ 2 rescue exits)
Difference in level : 220 m
Altitude : 1030 m to 1250 m
1st part : "Le Cabri" AD +
2d part : "Le Chamois" TD
3d part : "Le Bouquetin" TD
Time : 3 to 5 hours + return 45 mn.
Hightlights : the "Pont du goleron", a terrific footbridge, the "pscheu de l'orge", a water spring in the wall, the "traversee du coucou", a marvellous flag where the rock is spotted with little holes like coucou's nests.
