Candyland

Candyland

The last of the fall colors in the heart of The Watauga Reserve are framed by a Chestnut Oak in foreground. In the distance on the steep slopes are Poplar, Scarlet, White and Red Oak, Sourwood, Cherry, Black Tupelo, Basswoods, Cucumbertree, Fraser Magnolia, Maple, Hemlock, Pine and many more species. I had to climb a Scarlet oak to get this shot, because the forest is so dense. In 2 weeks the leaves will be gone and the forest transparent. The Watauga Reserve, Cherokee National Forest, The Upper Unakas, Western Blue Ridge Mountains, Eastern Tennessee, USA. November 2010
