A classic route up the straight ridge on the leftEver tried it? It's as desolate as it is cool

Re: A classic route up the straight ridge on the leftNo, I've never climbed it but would like to. In Kelsey's Timpanogos book it looks like a cool route.

I did the standardroute with a friend in 1974. Do you know
that "permanent snowfield" that people
like to glissade down, on the mountain's
east side? It's located in the cirque,
right? Well... 1974 was 34 years ago, so
seems to me that snowfield should be GETTING
bigger and more stable. And, why in God's
name did they put up a shack on the summit OF
Timp??? Does it have political undertones,
or is it there for the purpose of scientific
research??? Thanks, Melinda!

Re: I did the standardThank you. I try not to talk about politics in Utah because it usually gets me into trouble. That “permanent snowfield” seems to change each year. You can read about it in this Article written by Scott.

Re: A great pictureThanks! I have to agree. If I lived closer to the mountain I would climb it more often.
