Good page Gabriele! I never heard of the region. It took me quite long to find it on a map. But I'm not very good at western Alps geography anyway.

I forgot .. this area looks well known in Deutschland, there were many German bikers with their tents there.

Great to see a good page on one of our little know climbing classic! It's an area full of interesting climbs even for the "medium capacity" rock climber, and there's plenty to hike too!

You created a very good page again! The area was completely unknown to me.

I think I found this perhaps 8km up the valley from Acceglio(as the crow flies). This valley ends at the Brec de Chambeyron. But Castello-Provenzale is not up so far but across from Roca Bianco(3021m). Torre Castello would appear to be on the east side of the upper valley? The upper valley runs from north to south. I got this by comparing Michelin and Google Earth

Estimated coordinates from Google Earth

Latitude: 44.5

Longitude: 6.92 PS the red colour is lichen and not iron?

thanks :)

I found (and posted) a schematical map that can explain something about the (small) area.

the red colour is the colour of the rock under the overhangs and is not due to lichens
