| Climbed Coffin Peak in late afternoon and descended while the sun was setting. The actual summit is more rugged than the ridge leading to it. It was a very windy day. | |

| Hiked Sawtooth Mountain in the morning, in the Bullfrog Hills out toward Beatty. Super windy! By this climb it was warm and still with fine apenglow. | |

| A fun, quick summit after visiting Dante's View (and benchmark.) Fantastic flowers covered the entire summit area. Our timing must have been perfect to get such a treat in Death Valley. | |

| I did this surprisingly nice little peak several years ago. I remember the register had been placed by the 'Subatomic Rock Club' back in 1969. What a treat! Regarding Bob's comments about the south face's ruggedness, Rick Kent and I once explored a subdrainage on the peak's south side on our way to Styx Canyon. We found a couple of nice rappels that hadn't been done in perhaps 30 years. Atop the first one, we found a gnarly, ancient bolt that we decided not to use; and at the bottom, a second gnarly, ancient bolt lying in the sand. | |
