Oh man ..That much snow remains in May ?
Do you think it will all be melted out by
July? Hopefully, most of that will find
its way into the Colorado River.

Re: Oh man ..I'm guessing there might still be quite a bit of snow above 10k in July. Snowbird has recorded almost 800 inches of snowfall this season!

Re: Oh man ..My friends cabin at Alta(~9600') had 6 feet of snow at the front steps on July 15th this year. Unfortunately none of it will find its way to the Colorado river as the Wasatch range finds itelf in the great basin.

Re: Oh man ..Yeah, I'm thinking most of it will end up in
Utah Lake, where 42 percent will evaporate
into the atmosphere, ending up somewhere in
the Pacific Northwest.
The water cycle is a hard nut to crack.

Re: Oh man ..QUESTION :
How many people actually attempt Cottonwood Ridge, and WHEN is the best time to do it ???

Re: Oh man ..Only hardcore people do it all in one go (Joseph Bullough, for example), and my guess is that August is the best time to do it, since the crux on the western side of Monte Cristo is easier when snow-free.
