First Ascent

Curtain call was climbed 17 January 2012 by Mark Schmude (USA) and Anthony Quinn (UK). Mark gained the hanging curtain by dry tooling up to the right corner of the curtain, while Tony belayed from the top of the first pitch. They gave the upper pitch a mixed grade M7.

Afella East - Ice Curtain

Approach & Route Description

For climbers staying in the CAF Nelter (Toubkal) hut, it is possible to inspect the climb from the comfort of your sandals at the hut main entrance. This climb is the obvious ice feature that emerges from the east butress of Afella.

Approach to the climb can be done in 20 minutes, depending on snow conditions. While there are options for a traverse exit from the climb, parties attempting Curtain Call should be prepared to abesil off Abalakov V-thread anchors.
