Voted 10/10 | Golden Trout were planted in Lake Atwood in
1968 and are still available. It must be a
popular site for the weekend folks.
At 150 acres, this is a large 'glacial lake.'
It really looks beautiful, with those Emmons
Peaks in the background. Great picture, ZJ!!

Voted 10/10 | yes, it makes sense for me now that South Emmons is sort of between Main and North! | | Posted Nov 4, 2008 3:53 pm |
| ckidd | Atwood -- Popular | | Voted 10/10 | Actually -- and unfortunately -- very popular both with South Slope Boy Scout groups and local horse packers. However, these are tolerable. What is not is the incessant swarms of gnats and flies later in the season. Some of the worst in the Uintas. Another difficulty is the considerable water draw-down in August -- the lake is reservoired. Mud and water-logged stumps become the norm following.
I've camped at Atwood many times but much prefer the lake as scenic entity -- for reasons noted above -- from a distance. | | Posted Dec 29, 2009 9:02 pm |
