Final Bolt Ladder

Final Bolt Ladder

2011-09-18 - Bolt ladder w/ 1 gear placement in the roof. Bolts were really far apart, so I had to top step for all of them. Note the worn granite from so many ascents. I wonder if the steaks just below the bolts are from the toes of climbers standing in the aiders hanging from the bolts?2nd bolt in the photo didn't have a hanger so I hung a wire on it. I used a cheater stick in the corner above as a bolt had sheared off at the rock & I didn't see any placements.

I've done that before!

clean aiding with my collapsed hiking pole with a stick-clip tapped at the end.

Re: I've done that before!

Threading a copper wire into a runner that is tied to a carabiner and wrapped in duct tape works pretty well. You can fold it in half and clip it to your harness, and the end you clip into is as strong as hanging on a quickdraw :-) I started off using rubber bands to hold the carabiner gate open, but wire rivet hangers seem to work even better.
