Flat Top Mountain (UT)

Flat Top Mountain (UT)

On June 5th, Ken Jones and I made our way up the Lewiston Peak route and just barely beat a thunderstorm off the summit. You can see the incoming weather behind me but hey, its tough to put down a great summit register like is kept in the mailbox behind me.

Re: Great Pic Dean

That Steve, is the register. It dates back a few years and half the signatures in it are from one family (the local landowners who maintain the register and the mailbox)

Dean ...

I think a lot of us are always afraid a
searing bolt of lightning will appear from
the blue and knock you on your rear end.

Which one is the Lewiston Pk route?

Is that where you have to go up Ophir Canyon? What's it like up there nowadays???
Are they still working all those old mining
claims up there?

As kids, we always thought it'd be pretty
cool to live in Ophir Canyon, but we missed
my Mom's apple pie; so we always ended up
"high-tailing" it back to Tooele.

Nice picture, Dean!

Re: Dean ...

The pic is on Flat Top's summit but to get there you can go over the top of Lewiston Peak to do so. For us it was necessary to go over the summit due to the snow still on the north side. Lewiston also has a register that people can sign.

Apple pie? Did you have to mention apple pie? I don't know if they are working the mines or not and you are right, Ohpir canyon is a pretty cool place.
