George And Martha

George And Martha

Leading George And Martha (5.10a) on Sunshine Wall. Nice - fingers to thin hands (with many incuts) changing to hands and short OW near top. Note how the gold colored lichen has been cleaned off near this popular crack (March 12, 2006).

Re: Makes me wanna

Thank you Sir - great place and usually as sunny and warm even in winter as the name suggests ("Sunshine Wall")!

Great Picture

Hey great picture - I've done this climb a few times; I love most of the Vantage climbs. Have you ever done "Stems & Seeds". I climbed that once, and walked funny for about 3 days (sore groin muscles - very big stem for me).

Re: Great Picture

thanks! nice route. never tried stems&seeds but I've done a few stem boxes/corners in other basalt areas and am familiar with that type of limp :)

Wow...

I could tell this was sunshine wall from the thumbnail, but couldn't guess the route. Nice photo!

Re: Nice shot

Marc,
Sunshine is sort of "the" wall in Vantage, WA. Check out Martin's great Vantage page here on SP for more details on approach but basically, from parking lot simply follow the herd :)

Great Pic

I love this picture. Very vivid color and shows the verticalness (word?) of the columns. Climbed there several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Next Year

Hi rpc ! this looks interesting, hoping to get out to Red Rocks next year, I`m new to SummitPost and it`s opened my eyes to the fantastic climbing areas in the USA, I have been to RRG, NRG and Yosemite and loved every moment out there :)

Re: Next Year

Hi Mills,
yup - sp (& others) has opened my eyes as well...that Old Man Of Hoy formation way up north there sure looks fun/cool for example :) I think Red Rocks of Nevada is one of those places in the lower 48 states that is worthy of a trip from far away. Enjoy!

Re: Next Year

PS this particular location is called Vantage (Washington state) & it's not worth your time if you're flying in from abroad. My 2 cents. Spend your time in the US on larger objectives. Cheers.

Another Gem

Really nice photo. And a lovely looking line. The focus is right on, bottom to top.
