The primary reason Sedona attracts over 4 million visitors each year is the magnificent red rocks of the Schnebly Hill Formation. Re: Handsome!

Glad you liked my photograph!

Junipers are special trees, and are considered to be sacred by Native Americans.

I just like to stick my nose in them, because
they smell really good! : ))))

Additionally, their wood is excellent to
burn for a campfire and/or wood stove.

Let's all hold hands around the campfire!
: ))))))))))))

Re: Handsome!

Talking of fires, you'd better be more considerate and ask the juniper first. We have some junipers here, sometimes half a dozen meters tall, but more often much poorer:-( - too much mud, too little sun!!!

Re: Handsome!

Once again, you are very correct! I am
considerate of all living things. Junipers
thrive in a drier climate; when I need wood
for heating purposes, I collect the "dead and down" wood or purchase from the campground host or commercial vendor.

Re: Handsome!

And, in the process of BUYING wood from the
campground host or vendor, I'm also helping
out the struggling economy by spreading the
wealth around. : )

Re: Handsome!

Are you sure they don't get the wood by pruning those gray junipers?

Re: Handsome!

No, that's the way they grow in the desert.
During their entire life cycle, the wind
shapes them to the natural "twisted" form
that you can see in this photo.

A bit like the rock band "Twisted Sister!"

Re: Handsome!

Well, if they were against stodgy education systems as well, I might be happy with having such brothers!

Re: Handsome!

Laddie, you failed to tie your shoes! And don't
be complaining about the sunshine hitting your
face, laddie! That's why they invented sunglasses and colourful headbands.

And ... you can't have no pudding if you don't eat your meat !!!!!!
