Date Climbed: Apr 8, 2007

The morning felt like a hot summer day, and the afternoon a cool, wet, spring day. There were plenty of people on the summit, despite the Easter holiday, but we found a perfect lunch perch 100 meters north on the ridge trail.

I've climbed Hamilton numerous times, the first time when a was a kid, the most recent in July of 2005 as a training hike. Still one of my favorite places in the gorge, lots of memories.

Very fun hike, beautiful day, mid 40's and almost no wind. Up in just over 2 hours, down in an hour. Next time i'll do the loop. Took both an altimeter and a GPS reading on the summit, altimeter was 2489, GPS 2450. Did not seem like 4 miles to me, but what do I know?

Started at 1230, went up the "More Difficult" route to the top, made that at 1:45. Great views at the top and rather windy which I didn't mind on a 90 degree plus day. Came down the Hardy Creek side with the mosquitoes after me most the way.

Messed around in the waterfalls and took a lot short detours and still made it up and back in 4 hours. An excellent half-day outing.

I was bored after getting out of class early this morning so I cruised up to the gorge to check out this mountain that I always thought looked enticing sitting behind beacon rock. Didnt pass anyone on the way up, passed a few people on the way down, was surprised to see people heading up in the evening.

Nice hike with lots of variety. Views in all directions at various points, waterfalls, and a few nice airy viewpoints.

For a trail that's 4 miles long with 2500 feet of elevation gain, this hike is surprisingly easy. I thought the side trip to the "pool of winds" was just as good as the views at the summit. My first hike on the Washington side of the gorge, I would have preferred to do this climb on a weekday as there were many, many people on the trail. Good Hike though.

Got to the TH at 7AM and we were the only car there. Made the summit at 9:30AM. When we got back to the parking lot is was almost full. Great weather with no clouds, but it was kinnda windy. This is now probably my favorite Gorge Hike.

Even with the rain and some fog, what a great hike! Took the loop around the backside. I was up here last year also, only standing in snow at the top with a great view of the green valley below -pretty!

Did this one with my Mazama BCEP team as a conditioner. Third time up this year. Finally a view at the top.

I've climbed this many times usually with my sister Julie, the first time was and we did the long loop hike. I've even taken my girls in 2000 when my youngest was 4 years old. She made it all the way to the top, but we came down the shorter way we had come up, she'd had enough hiking for one day. I've been again just this last summer with my daughter who is now 10, played in the waterfalls and took a lot of photos. I hope to do this one again soon.

This is one of my favorite Gorge hikes. It's close to home, fast, and has lots of variety. I came up here last Saturday and then again this past Saturday. Both days were just about the rainiest I've ever seen. No views = no pics. Oh well...still my favorite!

Probably my favorite hikes in the Gorge! The little climbers trail that hugs the cliff face is probably the most interesting ascent route. Outstanding views!

I started doing this hike for spring conditioning during the '70s when we first moved to the Portland area. I now prefer doing the loop trail. Always enjoy, but I don't prefer the $5 parking fee recently imposed.

Great hike! I especially liked the views from the false summit...which is a great climb in itself. Made the summit with BP, Lizbit, and Pick.

Took advantage of the great March weather and decided to go for a hike. The road up to the trail head was closed but I parked across from the ranger station and walked the short distance up. It was very windy in the parking lot but once I was on the trail it was pretty calm. However, I could barely stand up against the wind when I got to the top. I have experienced gorge winds before, but this was in a class of its own. I spent very little time on the top before looping back around and down on the old road back to the trail.

Took advantage of the unsesaonably good weather and was treated with an unobscured view of Mount Adams. Was glad that I had decided against doing the hike while sitting in the car park in teeming rain 17 days earlier.

Returned with my parents in mid-April. It was cooler with a couple of quick showers and the view wasn't so great, but the increased intensity of the waterfalls made up for that.
