Hard to believe that within a few months, I'm almost a fifth of the way done to accomplishing my goal of masturbating on all 50 high points in ascending order. Seed Left

Second High point in the same day after driving from Illinois. However, the farm owners in Iowa really, really appreciate their state's HP, unlike Illinois. It was neat actually, from the poles with signs pointing towards all the other state HP's, to the observation deck, to the walkthrough barn. Loved this one!

What better birthday present then to check off another USA highpoint?
Great trip enjoying the scenic Midwest farmland.

...and also went over to the old pre-1970s version of the high point (Ocheyedan mound). The county and the highpointers club has really done a great job of adding some charm to Hawkeye point. Much more than I expected.

The corn was only a few inches high when I visited, so I had a nice view of the surrounding area. First state high point. Easy start to my new highpointing hobby.

"Climbed" is a loose term here. Still a very well maintained highpoint.

I was scared somebody was gonna come out and tell me to get out of their driveway.

Stopped here while returning home from vacation in Minnesota. They've got a real nice setup here.

Drove from Minnesota's HP the night before and then did this one. This has to be one of the coolest HP sites. A lot of hard work has gone into making this a dream.

Hard to turn this into anything more than a drive-up but we scoped out a nearby hill and walked over to what turned out to be a cemetery to confirm it wasn't higher than the highpoint. Wasn't. State HP #30.

After a grueling hike, I finally summited this difficult, very remote peak. Oh wait, I just drove to it.

A great little place. Iowa's done the best of making something out of nothing of all the HP's I've seen. Very nicely done.

On the annual drive to Indy, I stopped by Hawkeye Pt. The detour noted in the directions from this site was still in place, but it was easy to follow the directions and find the place. This was even easier than the IN, OH, KS, and NE highpoints, and it's distinction as the state highpoint seems a bit dubious when you look around. But it's a nicely kept place and has some interesting things there.

It's a very interesting summit area, with all of the signs and articles on other highpoints and the history of the area!
