HDR of Frary Peak

HDR of Frary Peak

I left at 9 am, I made it to the peak at Noon, It was 17 degrees, and the wind was howling, I took enough time to take a couple HDRs. The snow was about 14 inches deep on the back side, I think I fell down more times than I ever have in one hike. I just wanted to get it over with. All in all it was an awesome hike. 3 hours up and 1 1/2 down. Dang Snow!!!!!

Pic of the day quality

This is a gem of a pic. Certainly one that is worthy of pic of the day consideration.

actually my first thought was: "wow, the pic was worth the bruises" ;-)

I'm glad you attached

this photo to the "Northern UT Ranges" page.
It's interesting to note that when this snow
melts, even though it will produce freshwater -
it all eventually gets mixed with the salt...

The same salt we later consume in fries and burgers!!! Geez, I just made myself hungry!!!

Re: I'm glad you attached

Ya, i wish it would have melted a bit earlier, would have made my hike a bit easier. Now lets get some lunch.

camera type?

I really enjoy this image. How was the HDR accomplished? I have used graduated color filters to balance sky with foreground. Sure would like to learn how you produce the magic!

HDR

Start with a good tripod, Then take at least three pictures that have the shutter setting to very dark , medium, and then very light, Then use the program "photomatix" to process the imagine. try going to my flickr page http://www.flickr.com/groups/hdranything/ adn see what we do and what it takes to do them. I use a Sony F828

emotional

I love this picture... for some bizarre reason, it inspires me with hope. Where I grew up, that was a good winter day!
