Here's why not too many people climb Pikes in Nov even though it isn't officially winter yet. It's windy! Layne Bracy braces against the wind at around 13K' along the road, taken 11/12/05.

My partner and I climbed Pikes Peak the week before yourself. Same conditions exactly! The winds were sixty mph, and good training for future unexpected weather, as planned.
