Slovak Trains R Cool

Slovak Trains R Cool

Peering into the 3rd millennium (a camping holiday in Liptov plus a few days in the Slovak paradise to get off to a good start). The River Váh outside (it stopped raining in two days and the second half of that August, probably of 2002, was as sunny and dry as AZ), in a few years both Poland and Slovakia would enter the EU. This year (2009) Slovakia has adopted the euro as its currency. Slovak trains are reliable, very cheap (still) and offer pretty views.

The euro

is one of the best things about the EU, very practical when traveling. It is too bad that Denmark hasn't adopted it (yet).

Re: The euro

Thanks for your comment Ejnar - without doubt, from the traveller's perspective. As to economics, hard to tell - if I had to vote now, I'd be for adopting it (Poland hasn't either) but if I had more trust in my government, I might not. As far as I know, e.g. Sweden's been doing very well without the euro:-)
Cheers,
Jacek

I am ashamed...

to admit that i haven't taken the train in at least twenty years. But, the chairs look very comphy on this one. But, there is something about the lady, and the way she is trying to look outside. Is she your wife Jacek?

Re: I am ashamed...

This train is still a bit above the average here in terms of comfort, but there are some that look like the most modern ones in the West (of Europe:)).
The lady is my youngest:-) daughter Hanna (a Math student at university now)

Re: I am ashamed...

She looks very intelligent, just like her father. There is a saying, "Apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

The views from this

train must be "out of this world."

Actually, my great grandmother on my mother's
side was born in Czechoslovakia.

But, in my case, the enigmatic "apple" has
fallen a LONG ways from the tree, because I
most certainly did not inherit my great
grandmother's GOOD LOOKS !!!

Larry : )))))
