Juniper and pine

The Alligator juniper, a member of the Cypress Family, can be found in central Arizona at elevations between 4500-8000 feet. It often grows in the Ponderosa Pine zone. These trees can often reach the 100+ years old mark. 12/13/2007

Re: Where is this exactly?

Ha, ha! This is exactly 25 miles east
of Payson, along the Tonto Fish Hatchery
Road in the Tonto National Forest.
The trail that goes along atop the southern
edge of the Tonto Rim is called the General
Crook Trail. He was involved in the Apache
Wars of 1870, so I'm assuming this tree was
a toddler at that time. Thank you!
I knew there was a "Juniper album" floating
around in Cyberspace. Hope a reindeer doesn't
trip over that. Regards to your photos!!!
