Good trip report

Being I was on hike with you - I can vouch that you & your knees were in pain.

Trial?

What trail did you take up/down?

Re: Trial?

We took the Hunt Trail up & down. If we ever get back there again, we'd love to try the Chimney Pond Trail. Hope you have a great time.

nice job

"Man is born to die. His works are short lived. Buildings crumble, monumnets decay, wealth vanishes but Katahdin in all its glory forever shall remain the mountain of the people of Maine."

Nice trip report. Brings back memories. Katadhin. Great Mountain. You could always look back and remember the time you were on Katahdin.

Exactly!

I summitted alone on 6/23 in terrible weather and had the exact same thought you did when you got to the Gateway. Those iron rungs were intimidating, but they sure felt safe when I felt like the wind was going to knock me off the mountain! I didn't find Thoreau Spring because the Hunt Trail was flooded-it was like walking through a stream. Don't know about you, but I can't wait to go back-it's definitely the best mountain I've climbed so far.
