From Butterfield  Sucess!

Just discovered the Oquirrhs--beautiful! Came via Butterfield Peaks and White Pine. Loving the views and the solitude of the Oquirrhs!

On the Way to Lowe  Sucess!

HIt this peak up on the way up to Lowe. Cool inscription from 1896 is on a rock just below the summit. If coming from Butterfield Pass, be sure to look out for the cairn just as you begin climbing White Pine. Taking a left here will lead you to a trail that will save you a lot of pain on your way up to Kelsey. Also, anyone have any info on that huge slide just south of Kelsey?

From Butterfield Canyon  Sucess!

Started at sunrise for a fun father-son hike. The trail, while a bit overgrown in areas below the east ridge of White Pine Peak, was mostly easy to follow, and is very underrated. I especially liked the easy section of trail between the Butterfield Peaks and the base of White Pine Peaks's east ridge, as you're presented with impressive views of peaks like Lowe peak to the south. We only saw one other person until we were almost back to the car. I'd put this hike on par with Ben Lomond in the Northern Wasatch.

Second Attempt we got it  Sucess!

04/05/2017: Attempted this one on April 1 but got fooled or should that be foiled. Anyway came back and tagged it with Michael and Jim. Thanks guys. Went over Corn twice.

via Ophir Canyon  Sucess!

with Moogie737 and yadahzoemtn. beautiful views in every direction, Great Salt Lake plus islands very nice. #2 ascent via Butterfield Canyon: 4 October 2020 (Wasatch Mt Club hike). Some of the route blocked by trees knocked over (presumably) by the 7-8 September windstorm. Smoky due to California wildfires - no really long views today.

From Ophir Canyon  Sucess!

#1 4-19-16 Solo from Rocky Peak via Corn Peak and every single one of the in-between bumps. Took one hour from Corn Peak to Kelsey. Good consolidated snow - never needed snowshoes. #2 4-5-17 w/ Jim K. and Lana. Used crampons for the crux and all the way to the breezy summit. Challenging but most enjoyable. Did this after bagging Lowe Peak.

Great solitary hike  Sucess!

Didn't see another person on this entire hike- just me and the dog! Views are amazing- I really liked not passing crowds of people like you do in the Wasatch. Hiked up from road at middle canyon pass. 9 miles round trip. Pants would have been nice- since the trail gets little use, it is overgrown and bushes will scratch your legs up.

Hot Day  Sucess!

Was about 103 degrees in the valley. It was a hot hike! Climbed from Butterfield Canyon up Butterfield Peaks. After, we climbed White Pine Peak and then over to Kelsey Peak. Nice cairn at the top!

You must be quick!  Sucess!

I was surprised to pass so many humans coming from Butterfield Peaks to Kelsey. I passed two men that were coming back from Kelsey. I passed cowboys and cowgirls moving cattle from Middle Canyon. I passed two gentlemen on motorcycles in the saddle, and as I arrived on the summit I was greeted by a man and his dog. The man paid a great compliment, he said he saw me from below and figured I was going to be an hour longer than I was to get up to the peak. " You must be quick he said!" Truth be told he was just bad at judging distance I think. The view of the southern Oquirrhs on this hike was gorgeous. The north face of Lowes is stunning! I wanted to head over, but there was thunder in the area and rain. I decided to skip White Pine Peak and head back for safer ground. I will be back for more Oquirrh climbs, I found it stunning.

Did a trail run linking Kelsey and White Pine Peaks in the Oquirrhs. Surprised to find peaks with trails in the Oquirrhs.

Nice climb  Sucess!

Climbed with byates and WMC. Foggy climb with little views from the summit. Summit cairn was very interesting. Also hit White Pine and Butterfield Peaks. Would like to hit this summit again and traverse north to Tooele Peak

In the clouds  Sucess!

Made it to the summit not knowing I was near it due to being clouded in, but the Summit was obvious due to the giant cairn.

Great views ...  Sucess!

Actually, there's another route up to Kelsey.

You go up Left Hand Fork of Settlement Canyon, and follow "game
trails" up from Bear Trap Flat.

You just follow the ridge system up to Kelsey, after passing the remnants of an old cabin (near Cold Spring).

But, be fore-warned! In October, the place is CRAWLING
with deer hunters. The views are spectacular, however.
And .. you might see some elk up top-side.
