| Dean | Great hike ![]() Date Climbed: Apr 21, 2012 | |
| 2nd visit but this time it was with SP member redsplashman23. Met Gary who was going to open the lookout and Sammy the forest ranger who was there to help. Gary said to say hello to Courtney (cp0915) Once again, outstanding views from a great summit. Still snow to deal with near the summit. | ||

| Hiked it with a foot of fresh snow. We had the whole place to ourselves. It was probably in the single digits at the summit...cooold!! We hung out in the Kendrick shelter for awhile and ate lunch there. Awesome start to winter! | ||

| I finished up work in Flagstaff about 4 and studied the map to see what I could get accomplished in what was left of the day. Drove up to the south trailhead and started off at 5:25. Summited at 7:20, took a few pics and jogged/ran back, getting to the TH at 8:30. Excellent, unusually even grade all the way - 9.3 miles RT, 2,700' vertical. Got lost in the dark on the myriad dirt roads on the way back. The rising full moon saved me and I got back to Flag at 9:30 to crash for the night. | ||

| This is one of my favorite hikes in AZ. Nice cool forest leading to a good summit view and a fire lookout. Plus the cool old forest service cabin. Great for Spring or Autumn. | ||

| Dean | Before the skies opened ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 4, 2008 | |
| We had stopped in Flagstaff for the night and so I thought I'd grab Kendrick in the morning. Great plan and great timing as I just barely got off this outstanding mountain before the deluge was unleashed. I wonder about the five others and a dog, I hope they had rain gear. This is a hike I could happily repeat as the trail is one of the best I've ever seen. | ||

| I don't get to Kendrick too often, but I've still been on it 5 or 6 times. Its a really nice hike and mountain to do in October when its still warm and sunny. | ||

| lcarreau | Kendricks before the fire ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 12, 1991 | |
| The trees were so tall & healthy before the fire. I remember a lookout person inhabiting the tower. Said that Kendricks was some type of "Power Point," and the other one was in Sedona. (I didn't feel any kind of power, until I ate a granola bar.) | ||

| As one of the volunteer fire lookouts who worked on the mountain in the summers, I have enjoyed many, many hours of quiet solitude atop this wonderful peak. | ||

| Fairly easy climb. Nice and steady all the way up. Took about 2 hours. The ranger at the observation tower at the peak was nice enough to share details on his hermit life (he stays up there a week at a time) and the fire-finding equipment. The view from the peak is beautiful, especially toward Humphreys. It was cool to see the north rim of the Grand Canyon also. This would be a great work out mountain. As a side note, I took a detour to the Lava River Cave, and that was very impressive. It's definitely worth checking out if you are near Kendrick. | ||

| callthedoctor | Route Climbed: Pumpkin Trail Date Climbed: 5/26/02 ![]() | |
| 2nd time up Kendrick...this time took the Pumpkin Trail. This is quite a bit more strenuous than the Kendrick Trail and counting the turn-around is in the 11-12 mile range. The first mile climbs up a ridge that extends to the west of Kendrick. From here it flatens out quite a bit as you slowly climb through the charred remains of the Kendrick Fire to the base of Kendrick. There are some remains of an abandoned wall or cabin just before your final push to the summit. The last, long leg is hardcore steep....and brings you right to the overlook. Plan on 1/2+ day of hiking.... | ||

| Had a great day...took about 3.5 hours to get to the top with a 35lb pack. Spent the night in the tower with my buddy who was on volunteer fire watch. Saw some wild raptor birds... Great Views of all of the western half of No. Arizona. Can only imagine how spectacular the mountain was before the fire...too bad. | ||
