Kodachrome Basin State Park | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
Chimney Rock is the feature that brought national attention to this area back in the 40's (according to an info plaque located next to the structure-Kodachrome Basin earned its name when National Geographic photographers came here in the late 1940's, to test out a new type of color film.)
A road takes you to the base of this feature and is but a short drive from where the campground is located.

Voted 10/10 | really a chimney/wide fracture on this rock?
I also see that it's leaning a little.

Hasn't voted | It does lean a bit and I didn't look for a chimney. I think the name comes from the idea that it looks more like a house chimney ( ?? ) | | Posted Sep 6, 2009 11:21 am |
