Re: zdravo!Nice to see you again Bor! I've been there on 25-26.2. On the first day we reached Komna hut and on the second went via Lepa Komna towards Lanzevica. I gave up somewhere in Lepa Komna because I was too far behind the group. Why? Too much photographing :-) After every 5m I saw nice new motif, it was terrible hahaha Well, I would have gone to the summit, that wasn't the main reason to give up. Clouds that closed it were. And snow was terribly soft. Those in front where falling through to their waist! All in all I'm very pleased with the trip. Forecast was bad but we had amazing first half of Sunday.
Cheers,
Sasa

plastic at allMan, it's plastic like I've never seen before! Take care about avalanches as your good friend mentioned upwards! Anyway, this picture makes me want to jump into the sea of snow!

Re: plastic at allI totally agree Den! This must be one of the most plastic shots I've ever took and some of the craziest snow scenery I've seen. Conditions were ideal for avalanches; I've never experienced such powder! If you moved an inch from the trodden path you fall immediately over the waist into snow! It provided no resistance at all; I think it was impossible even to board on it!

this thick snow-layer can not be usual! There must have been heavy snowing previous to this!
For at least 4 or 5 days long, isn't it?
Not every winter have this kind a sight, I guess. There are pine trees which are almost totally covered!

Re: this thick snow-layer can not be usual!Well, Komna plateau and Julian Alps are known for huge amounts of snow so this is not that unusual. Few meters of snow fall here every winter. For example on nearby ski center Vogel on that day (26.2.2006.) there was 260cm of snow. Prior to this visit there was no significant snow fall. It even settled a little bit from 280cm. And snow depth was around that mark since mid January. It is really mystery to me how such powder can survive for such a long period of time. But it seamed to me that here on Komna there was even more snow than on Vogel. Later in March official snow depth on Vogel reached 4 meters! Imagine how it was then!
