Approach

The approach is described in the Getting there section.

Route Description

The trail starts behind the uppermost cabin at El Renacer de la Sierra (2650m), it winds up through pine and oak forests cutting across a logging road a couple of times where there are some isolated aspen trees, from there the climb is straight up the steep and rocky barren gully to the saddle connecting the lower summit called "El Morro" to the left or the main one marked by a small cross to the right; both summits are connected by an easy to hike ridge.
The total elevation gain is about 1000 meters, wich can take from 2 to 3 hours to climb.

Essential Gear

Crampons, ice axe, heavy boots, helmet and rope may be necessary if the snows are deep in the winter.
