Interesting ...Was that taken from Arches NP, Marc ?
From that vantage point, a person could draw
an imaginary line connecting the dots, and
obtain the rendition of a mega-volcano!
From what I understand, the molten lava that
once intruded upon the area did not reach
the surface, making the La Sal Mtns. what
geologists call a laccolith volcano.
Nice capture, Marc !!!

Re: Interesting ...Your estimation as to where this photo was taken from is spot on. I took the photo from the intersection of the main HWY into Moab, and Potash Rd. As you know this intersection is only minutes from the entrance to Arches NP.
As to the volcanic nature of the Las Sals, you are providing a lot more information than I was aware of. I thank you for that, and thank you for the compliment on the photo, Larry : )

Re: great shot Marc! You noticed the wind. I was going to put the caption something like "High winds on the La Sals" But I decided to keep it simple.
Thanks for the compliment, Dan.

Re: Impressive Marc......Thank you very much, Trevor. This is one of the first photos of La Sal Mountains I took when my wife and I were just getting into the area in 2009. During the following several days, I ended up taking several dozen more photos of these mountains from many different vantage points. I figure I'll post a few more here and there.
Thanks a lot for the visit and the compliment,
Happy skiing out there in Utah heaven,
Marc

Re: the whole range...Actually, there are three separate section to this range. I may be wrong, but I think this is the middle grouping.
You seem to have a knack for finding some of my best photos, Tomek. I thank you for that.
Best Regards,
Marc
