Little Mac | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
Here longduty and I had reached the the first false summits on the south ridge of Little Mac, the red v marks the spot where we were caught in an avalanche after we traversed off the ridge when it became too dangerous with 40& 50 mph gusts of wind.

Hasn't voted | Shallow snowpack coupled with windloading. Scary!
add to that a weak, faceted layer and you have the recipe for a tragedy. Glay you're around to post!

"Today the avalanche danger is estimated to be generally MODERATE. However CONSIDERABLE danger remains in steep, rocky terrain, or in exposed terrain that was loaded by recent strong winds.
Throughout our region, 1-2 feet of recent snow accumulation lies above weak, sugary facets." | | Posted Dec 23, 2007 2:19 pm |
