I love the "Overview" section! Oh man, I used to live in Vegas so I know what you mean. I love the concrete bench...cause you can't expect to fly right to the top when you're chuck full of buffets and have spent the last three years in front of a slot machine.
Excellent page--I completely missed this when you added it. Thanks for suggesting this one. Although not high, the peak is so isolated that the views are excellent.
BTW, I'm not very good at distinguishing between class 4 and 5.easy, but I stayed religiously to the crest of the south ridge, and didn't find anything I'd have called more than class 4 at best--maybe even just exposed class 3 since the holds were bomber and easy to locate. At least it felt very secure even in trail runners... although I suppose this is the case on the Cathedral Pk summit block, too, which Croft calls 5.2. I'd just call that thing class 4 as well. Hmm. I guess I don't know. :-)
Well, as you know, there's a very fine and rather subjective line between class 4 and 5.easy. I'm still pretty confident in my feeling that the right-leaning headwall-like feature near the top was 5.3ish. It was steep, exposed, had lots of holds, though small, and just felt like more than class 4 to me. Perhaps we can compromise and drop the rating a tad to about 5.1.

Untitled CommentNice job. I especially like the routes shown on the pics.
Little peaks like this get overlooked too often but a good write-up like yours entices one to give them a try. Keep up the good work.

Untitled CommentThanks for the words of encouragement, Don. This is definitely a neat little peak that is worthy of the attention. It's a good little leg stretcher.
