Hello, Melinda ..I always drive that road whenever I visit my
parents currently living in Tooele.
Oh ... what a sleepy little town, Eureka is ..
I love how you can catch an excellent view of
Mount Nebo to the east.
Seems like you would have run into some
abandoned mine shafts. You must have your
own private goldmine in that area, right ???

Re: Hello, Melinda ..Thanks Larry. Eureka is a small town but it does have a gas station and historical significance. There are fewer facilities when you go farther into the west desert from there. I don't think there's too much gold left out there or maybe I just haven't found any yet!

Re: Hello, Melinda ..You're right .... there's a-lotta history
packed into that little town !
I haven't been to Delta in ages. When I'm
driving south, I usually take the "Jericho Cutoff Road" which continues eastward to
the city of Nephi, Utah.
My point is: the west desert is an amazing
place, and shouldn't be overlooked by anyone
seeking the "quiet solitude" of Utah's Great Basin ....
... the only place I'd really like to visit
(someday) is Topaz Mountain, which is a Rock Hound's paradise.
Have you ever been there? It's located 40-miles west of Delta, Utah.

Re: Hello, Melinda ..I haven't been to Topaz Mountain but would like to go there when the weather is cooler. They actually did a large search in that area for Susan Powell. I've avoided going there for a while because of that. It such a desolate place to visit but I like the solitude.

Re: Hello, Melinda ..An extremely bizarre case, indeed.
Gotta wonder what he was doing camped out
at Simpson Springs with his kids in the
middle of winter. Doesn't make any sense.
