Mount Wilson

View of Mount Wilson from First Creek area of Red Rocks, Nevada. November, 2007. A fire swept through this area back in June 2006, but this Joshua Tree has survived.

Anya ?

This is the Mount Wilson in the Red Rocks area, right? Is there an Oak Creek Canyon there also, or do I have it confused with the Mount Wilson in central Arizona, right outside of Sedona? Just checking. Take care & cheers!

Okay, guys and gals...

I just checked the topo map. This is pretty bizarre. Did some person by the name of Wilson get two mountains named after him or her??? One in southern Nevada, and the other in central Arizona??? And both of them apparently have an Oak Creek Canyon nearby.

Gee, think I'll go out and feed the Reindeer.
Thanks for the information!!! : > )

I don't even have ... an ant hill named after me. I feel so all alone. : ) !!! !!!

Re: Okay, guys and gals...

There are Mount Wilsons and Wilson Peaks all over western US (Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado and maybe more). I doubt that they were named after the same people. Maybe it's just a very popular surname.
The one in Red Rocks is named after the original owners of the Spring Mountain Ranch. Today, the ranch is a state park. Cheers.

Are you still up ?

The Mount Wilson in Arizona has a state park also - called Slide Rock State Park in Oak Creek Canyon. Also, central Arizona's Mount Wilson had a fire, just like the one in southern Nevada did. Must be a coincidence?

On my unidentified "Fireweed" photo, I found out that native Alaskans use the flower to make a herbal medicine. Thanks, Anya!!!
