Check out the site now. I'm not much of detailest. But thought since there wasn't any other internet site giving much data about this peak that I would add the mountain to summit post.

I enjoyed this remote mountain. Thumbed through and voted on the good photos herein. Looked for a distant view of Wheeler Peak but missed it.

Nice page Dean! This is a really interesting area, it's amazing how it transforms from desert to alpine, when it's in the middle of the desert!

Trip Report Link

Under the heading "Neat Trip Report" there's a link that appears to be bad.

Re: Trip Report Link

Thank you for that heads up. The link is gone which is too bad as that was a great report. : (

Welcome to Summitpost. I assume your "name" is a reflection of the Stansbury area. Deseret Peak is an outstanding hike and I have my eyes set on Stansbury Island's high point.

Re: Trip Report Link

You're welcome. Actually I live in Stansbury Park and just hiked Deseret Peak today for the first time. I like this site and am going to file a trip report. I've hiked Antelope Island, that's a pretty good one, too, and will probably hike Stansbury Island sometime this Fall.

Nice job.

Great info on the page. Great detail on getting to the trailhead. After that, there is only one way to go... UP! This was my sixth county highpoint, with 23 more to go.

Crystal clear...

directions! Always good when visiting remote destinations (Gold Hill is not a place I'd like to stop and ask for directions; if the large turbo aggressive dog that chased us for 100 yards goes after you just keep driving...). There are a few minor discrepancies between the various trip reports regarding milage, but we stuck to the page's "getting there" section and "got there" just fine. Great page Dean!

Small update as of July 2018

It appears the ranch at the Y in the road up the Granite Creek road has changed hands. The mailbox at the road from Callao, and the sign at the Y a couple miles up, now read "Douglass Ranch".
And someone graciously cut a new road; so instead of crossing the stream at 2.8, you can now go straight up the canyon on this newly cut road.
Thanks for the awesome page, Dean! This was an awesome mountain, and range to visit, and your detail made it an enjoyable experience.
