When I read about the first Gulf war, I heard the allied forces were recommended to drink 26-32 liters of water/day while digging trenches in the desert. I didn't believe it was possible to drink that much. After the crossing of the Taklamakan desert in the middle of the summer heat, I realized it was very true and necessary. Still, I was close to dehydration some days out there.
